Firelands Electric announces 2008 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. winners!

Emily Krikke and Dakota Miller, both of South Central High School, are winners of the 2008 Youth Tour to Washington, DC sponsored by Firelands Electric Cooperative.

Emily is the daughter of Howard and Jane Krikke of Greenwich. Dakota is the son of Gary and Annette Miller of Greenwich.  Emily and Dakota will join winners from many of Ohio’s other rural electric Cooperatives on an all expense-paid tour to Washington, DC the week of June 13-19, when they will visit the Smithsonian, the U.S. Capitol, and many other sites.  Students also will attend Youth Day and meet with their Congressional representatives.

Candidates are evaluated on knowledge of rural electric Cooperatives, school and community activities, and demonstrated leadership.  Firelands’ Youth Tour Contest is offered annually to children of Cooperative members who are a high school sophomore or junior, residing in a home served by Firelands Electric Cooperative.  Click here to view more information on Firelands' annual youth programs.
