Children of Members Senior Scholarship Program

Firelands awards $10,000 worth of scholarships each spring to outstanding high school seniors who reside in a home served by Firelands Electric Cooperative.

The students are selected in an application and interview process. Scholarships awarded by the Firelands include a first place scholarship of $1,500; second place of 1,250; third place of $1,000; fourth place of $750; and fifth place of $500 for both boys and girls.

The young man and young woman chosen to receive the top two Firelands awards are then eligible to compete in the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives (OREC) statewide competition and banquet for additional scholarship money.

Firelands would like to emphasize that knowledge of rural electric cooperatives handbook many times becomes the determining factor. A test will is given on this information and Firelands requires applicants to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. If you have any questions or need additional materials, contact your Member Services Department at Firelands Electric Cooperative.
