Electric Meters

All residential electric meters on Firelands' system have an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system installed.  This state-of-the-art system downloads electric use data from each meter by Internet and satellite on a daily basis.  

AMR systems provide increased performance in the data collection. Reading data automatically also provides increased security of data flow between the AMR system and other applications without potential inaccuracy, due to missed meter readings and manual data entry/transfer errors.

With automatic meter reading, you have constant access to real-time data and have meter readings available on request. AMR systems offer significant outage management benefits that can result in utility cost savings and enhanced customer satisfaction.

Bills & Payment Options

Electric bills are mailed to members on the first of each month. Payment is due by the 14th of the month, and a penalty applies for payments received after the due date. Bill payments can be mailed, paid at the office or deposited in the 24-hour drive-up lock box, or paid online.

Firelands' E-Bill Site allows you to view and pay your account information.  You won’t be required to pay your electric bill online.  Your electric cooperative is committed to the security of your personal information, and ensure you’re paying your bill on a secure web site. Firelands accepts electronic checks and credit cards (Visa, Master Card and Discover) for payment of electric bills, fees and purchases.

The optional Automatic Bill Credit (ABC) plan, automatically deducts payment for your bill from your checking, savings or credit card account each month. You will receive a bill statement for information purposes, and your monthly bank or credit card statement will list the payment. It's as simple and easy as ABC . . . with no bill to mail.

Another payment option is the Budget Plan, which "levelizes" your bill each month. This plan is available to members who have established at least twelve months billing history with the Cooperative. Contact our Billing Department today for details and to sign up (800) 533-8658.
