Children of Members Scholarship Program

Firelands awards $10,000 in scholarships each spring to outstanding high school seniors who reside in a home served by Firelands Electric Cooperative.

The students are selected in an application and interview process. Scholarships awarded by Firelands include a first place scholarship of $1,500; second place of 1,250; third place of $1,000; fourth place of $750; and fifth place of $500 for both boys and girls.

The young man and young woman chosen to receive the top two Firelands awards are then eligible to compete in the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives (OREC) statewide competition for additional scholarships.

What are the entry requirements?
Applicants must be a graduating high school senior, and your parents or legal guardian must be members of Firelands Electric Cooperative. Qualifying applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and candidates are evaluated on their scholastic record, personal achievement, school and community activities, and cooperative knowledge.  Applications and materials for the 2014 scholarship program will be available on our website Dec. 1.
