Children of Members Scholarship
Each year, Firelands Electric Cooperative awards $10,000 in scholarships to ten outstanding high school seniors residing in a home served by the co-op. Students are selected in an application and interview process, and scholarships are awarded to the top five boys and top five girls. Awards in each group include a first place scholarship of $1,500; second place of $1,250; third place of $1,000; fourth place of $750; and fifth place of $500. The young man or woman chosen as Firelands' top overall applicant is also eligible to compete for an additional scholarship, in Columbus.
What are the entry requirements?
Applicants must be a graduating high school senior, whose parents or legal guardian are members of Firelands Electric Cooperative. Qualifying applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and candidates are evaluated on their scholastic record, personal achievement, leadership, school and community activities, and cooperative knowledge.
